Who Or What Is C2CR2C?

C2CR2C (Carrollton To Carrollton Ride To Care) is the name that was chosen for a cycle ride taking place in September 2010 when Bill Craig will ride from Texas to Georgia. The main purposes of the event are to:

1.  Raise funds for animal welfare organizations that survive on charitable donations.
2.  Make people aware of the principles that keep those organizations so important.

C2CR2C comprises: Bill Craig; volunteers helping in various ways to help organize and make the ride a success; and companies or individuals who have donated products and/or services to help with the ride itself.  It is a group of people, not a company or organization.

Who Gets The Money?

C2CR2C is not directly affiliated to nor a part of the aforesaid non-profit organizations, and is not registered as a company or as a non-profit organization. C2CR2C does not purport to represent any entity other than a group of volunteers who believe in certain principles, and have chosen to raise funds for the two nominated animal welfare organizations.

All funds raised as a result of the ride, and funds that have been solicited on behalf of the organizations by C2CR2C, will be given to the organizations detailed below. Suitable containers will be distributed by volunteers to various participating outlets to encourage cash donations from members of the public, and this cash will be given directly to the organizations. It is anticipated that interested volunteers may also hold separate local fundraising events in support of the C2CR2C ride, and the money raised will be donated to the organizations.

Who Is Funding C2CR2C For The Ride?

It is very important to ensure that the C2CR2C ride will be self-sufficient with its own funding and equipment, and will therefore not need to use any of the funds raised for the organizations to offset its own expenditure. Such C2CR2C funding has been promised, provided, and is being sought in the form of donations detailed on the C2CR2C "Sponsors" page. A list of others who have assisted in miscellaneous ways, and in many cases saved expenditure, are listed on the "Friends" page. If you wish to assist in any way with the actual ride, then please use the "Contact Us" page within this site.

Carroll County Humane Society was founded in 1970. Since its inception, the CCHS has helped to build a better community for people and animals alike.

CCHS strives to maintain a "No Kill" policy and constantly lists and shows adoptable animals through a variety of media including the CCHS website. The Society is continually involved with reaching out into the community to increase public awareness of their services and to foster attitudes and practices of responsible pet ownership.

Animal euthanasia is not seen by CCHS as an acceptable means of animal control.

In 2007 CCHS raised funds to open the West Georgia Spay-Neuter Clinic, a high-volume, low-cost clinic which serves pet owners in the region.  WGSNC's mission is to provide a non-lethal solution to the homeless, abandoned, and feral animal populations so that euthanasia is no longer an acceptable means of population control.

The animal shelters in the West Georgia area are overwhelmed with unwanted animals, and consequently have heart-breakingly high euthanization rates.  The purpose of the clinic is to attack pet overpopulation of companion animals by focusing on the root of the problem.  Too many animals have unwanted litters, which end up at an animal shelter where they either risk the chances of encountering diseases and dying or being euthanized, or are allowed to wander the streets having litters of their own which continue to contribute to the problem.

Money raised by the Carrollton To Carrollton Ride To Care event will go to the West Georgia Spay-Neuter Clinic.

Please visit the CCHS and WGSNC websites for more details.

Tell Me A Little About Operation Kindness

Operation Kindness, 3201 Earhart Drive, Carrollton, Texas, TX 75006
Phone: 972-418-PAWS   Fax: 972-417-8956
Website    Email: ok@operationkindness.org

Operation Kindness is a non-profit organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Code 1986 Section 501(c)(3).  Their IRS Federal EIN is: 75-1553350
Donations to Operation Kindness are tax deductible.

Operation Kindness strives to provide quality care for homeless or unwanted cats and dogs in a compassionate, no-kill environment until they are adopted into responsible, loving homes.  The organization also promotes humane values through education and awareness.

OK is the oldest and largest no-kill shelter in North Texas and has saved more than 55,000 animals since being founded in 1976!  They care for an average of 200-250 animals on a day-to-day basis. This obviously costs a great deal of money, and the funds to provide this level of care come solely from individual and business donations, adoptions, fundraising events, and the sale of pet-related merchandise.

Please visit the Operation Kindness website to find out more.

Operation Kindness needs your donations, no matter how large or small, to continue caring for cats and dogs in the same humane and compassionate way.

Can I Make A Pledge Instead Of A Direct Donation?

Some people might prefer to make a promissory note to delay payment of their donation until after the C2CR2C ride. Perhaps they may choose to create an incentive for our courageous cyclist by pledging a certain amount of money for every mile cycled, or every 10 miles completed, or perhaps even a fixed amount for every 100 miles travelled.

There are several different ways that you could work out a challenging pledge, but please ensure that you will be able to afford the total if all the elements of your pledge are fulfilled. Bill Craig is a very determined individual, and is driven on by the knowledge that all of your donations will help his "furry friends"!

While Bill may not necessarily share your tentative caution in his ability to complete the entire distance, if you prefer this method of donation, please be assured that every single cent given by any method is greatly appreciated by C2CR2C, and will be gratefully received by Operation Kindness or the CCHS/West Georgia Spay-Neuter Clinic.

Pledge Forms may be downloaded from here, completed, and then mailed to the chosen organization with a check to the promised total after the event is completed successfully.

Can I Donate Spare Change Somewhere?

Collection jars have been left in various premises with the kind permission of the owners and/or staff.  The list of premises will be updated on a regular basis and can be seen HERE.

Checks could also be placed in the jars but it would be a much better idea to post checks because the contents of the jars will only be banked when the jars are full, or after the event, and this would cause a delay in your account being debited.  You will find more information about this in the section below.
